The Intiman Emerging Artist Program (IEAP) is back for 2020!

emerging artist program

Applications are due by March 1st, 2020.

Who:  Diverse pre-professionals who are ready to bridge into professional theatre.  And, we do mean diverse in every way to include race, ethnic heritage, gender identification, sexual orientation, (dis)ability status, socioeconomic status, political affiliation…  In fact, the more diverse our cohort, the better the workshop collaboration and culminating showcase production will be. Emerging Artists will train together as a cohort, but can select to focus on directing, production management, stage management, technical direction, or acting.

What:  A 5-week full-time residential training program which includes workshops, networking events, devising, and rehearsals for a touring production of Sojourn Theatre’s THE RACE 2020 directed by Marc Weinblatt from Mandala Center for Change.

When:  August 31, 2020 thru October 4th, 2020

Where:  Rockland Woods in Bremerton.  That’s right, through our partners at Rockland Woods, housing and most food is included as the IEAP cohort lives their theatre experience together!

Why:  Intiman seeks to champion the core values of diversity, but there are barriers to equity within traditional theater.  To meet this challenge, Intiman recognizes the necessity of providing professional training to diverse communities who can fulfill nontraditional casting opportunities, who can tell stories unlike those traditionally on stages, who actually represent our community, and who can lead the next generation of relevant, diverse, and long-lasting theater!  IEAP was born out of this desire, and now after taking a year off to regroup and research, IEAP 2020 has been built off the learnings from the first four iterations, research from within the field, and best practices of educational programming. Fresh off of completing her Doctor of Education at the University of Southern California, the program’s founder, Crystal Yingling, is leading the research and redesign effort for IEAP 2020.  And, she/they are super stoked.
