Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas was founded in 1985 as the volunteer membership organization for the professions of literary management and dramaturgy. LMDA is a not-for-profit tax-exempt organization with members throughout North America and abroad. LMDA holds the belief that theater is a vital art form that has the power to nourish, educate, and transform individuals and their communities and that dramaturgy is central to the process of theater-making.

From its nationally recognized names to small independent venues, Minneapolis ranks as the fifth-most “creatively vital” city in the country. Home to more than 45 presenting theatres and 150 professional theatre companies, a multitude of college/university theatre programs, Minnesota has a vibrant theatre community that also plays host the Minnesota Fringe – a theatre festival that will be happening during our conference with over 160 works and more than 7000 performances.  Join us in exploring what it means to Rise Up; to use art and activism to make positive change in our communities.
