SETC 2020 Fall Auditions 
Attend in-person or online digitally!

Fall Convention Dates: August 30-31, 2020 

Sheraton Charlotte Hotel, Uptown Charlotte, NC

Applications open June 22, 2020 – REGISTER TODAY!

Early Bird Deadline – Before 12:00 PM EST, July 1, 2020 – $35
Regular Deadline – Before 12:00 PM EST, August 7, 2020 – $45

Audition Changes for 2020:

The 2020 Fall Auditions are traditionally in person, however as a result of Covid-19, the process has been altered to increase the opportunities for those who are not able or willing to travel or attend in person.

All applicants are required to provide an audition video. This will initially serve as your screening audition.

If you are selected to pass through, and we are able to hold in-person auditions, you have two options:

  1. Choose to attend the in-person auditions in Charlotte, NC
  2. Defer attendence, and your initial screening audition video will be shared with the hiring companies.

If we are unable to hold in-person auditions, all passed auditionees initial screening videos will be shared with the hiring companies.

Eligibility:

Acting, Singing, or Acting & Singing

To participate in SETC’s Fall Professional Auditions, actors/singers must meet the following professional qualifications:

  • Have a minimum of two paid, professional, acting credits in live theatres approved by the SETC Auditions Committee OR be a fully current member of AEA (EMC does not qualify)
  • Provide two professional director recommendations from credits listed in your work experience (Non-Equity) OR proof of current AEA membership
  • Ability to accept year-round employment within a reasonable time after the auditions
  • 19 years of age or older and not still a student

Dancer-Only

To participate in SETC’s Fall Professional Auditions, actors/singers must meet the following professional qualifications:

  • Have a minimum of two paid, professional positions in dance OR minimum of four years training, plus extensive performance experience.
  • Provide two recommendations from professional directors/choreographers from credits listed on your application.
  • Proficiency in basic dance routines and formal training. In particular, a high level of skill in technique and ballet is expected. Tap is not required but is highly sought after.
  • Ability to accept year-round employment within a reasonable time after the auditions
  • 19 years of age or older and not still a student

Video Audition Procedures & Information

Acting, Singing, or Acting & Singing

  • Video Length – Videos that exceed these time limits may not be considered.
    • 60 seconds – whether singing, acting or BOTH.
  • Required Video Elements
    • State your name
    • Material (order does not matter if doing BOTH)
      • Monologue
      • Song (song MUST be accompanied with music)
  • File Format
    • Your file must be one of these types
      • .MOV
      • .AVI
      • .MP4
      • .MKV

Dancer-Only

  • Video Length
    • 3 Minutes (180 seconds) – Videos that exceed this time may not be considered.
  • Required Video Elements
    • State your name
    • Material
      • If you wish to be considered as a singer, you must include 16 bars of you singing and doing scales at the beginning of your video.
      • Include turns such as pirouettes, chainés and any other turns you would like to show.
      • Include leaps such as grand jetés, russians (for the guys) and other leaps you would like to show.
      • Display your extension through battements and/or developpés.
      • Show off your technique, specialties and performance skill. Tap skills are not required, but you may include them if you like.
      • You should be the only dancer in the video.
  • File Format
    • Your file must be one of these types
      • .MOV
      • .AVI
      • .MP4
      • .MKV
    • Your submitted file should be name accordingly
