Cirque du Soleil: Now Hiring TEMP Props Technician to join KURIOS tour

Do you want to be a part of a unique and colorful journey? Cirque du Soleil is looking for a new Props Technician to join the touring family of KURIOS.

 Reporting to the Technical Director and working under the supervision of the Head of Props, you will be required to:

– Assist in maintaining and running show props in a safe and consistent manner;
– Run cue tracks to position or operate show props and related equipment as directed for performances, artist training, and maintenance;
– Oversee the troubleshooting of show props and related acrobatic equipment during performances;
– Inspect and maintain props and related equipment;
– Update maintenance and inspection records as directed;
– Work with the Head of Props to develop systems and procedures;
– Work with the technical team to develop and maintain a safe working environment by leading the props crew in conforming to all established safety policies and procedures;
– Participate in all required safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;
– Maintain a flexible schedule for work calls, special events, rehearsals and training, maintenance and evening show performances;
– Assist with setup and tear-down of all show equipment;
– Attend weekly maintenance meetings;
– Maintain Props Department documentation;
– Develop a thorough knowledge of all props equipment specific to the production in order to operate equipment safely;
– Participate in and oversee special projects, including the construction and installation of new show props;
– Direct certain steps involved in the setup and dismantling of technical equipment and set elements;
– Work in conjunction with International Headquarters (IHQ) on technical issues;
– Follow and support the equipment and inventory management procedures and requirements as required by Cirque du Soleil. Utilize the tools and procedures provided by IHQ to maintain inventory and equipment data. Follow the requirements detailed for customs and logistics with regards to the transport of material with touring productions;
– Perform other tasks and projects assigned by the Head of Props.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

– College diploma (or equivalent) in live entertainment or theatre production (or equivalent work experience);
– A minimum of three years’ experience as a professional props technician;
– Good general understanding of all technical aspects of a show an asset;
– In-depth experience with theatrical props for large-scale productions;
– Woodworking, fiberglass, metalworking, rigging, welding, mechanical, pneumatic and electrical skills an asset;
– Flexibility, autonomy, team player;
– Good communication skills;
– Ability to handle contingencies and work well under pressure;
– Computer knowledge an asset;-
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, fluency in French is an asset;
– Available to tour full time and to work in foreign countries.
